Le Carline
Preserving the Heritage of the Ancestors: Venice's traditional Winemaking.
Winemaking in Veneto is associated in the minds of most professionals and wine lovers with such wines as Amarone, Valpolicella, Prosecco. However, in the immediate vicinity of the "Pearl of the Adriatic" itself, wine was also once produced, and quite serious, in the traditions of classical Bordeaux, aged for a long time in oak.
Today, only a few producers continue the tradition of island winemaking, and Le Carline winery is one of them.
Daniele, Diana, Claudia and Alessandro, representatives of the same family - this is the heart of the company. The family passion that originated long ago until today remains the root
for which the current owners of the winery hold tightly.
The Le Carline winery is located in the province of Venice, in the center of the DOC Lison-Pramaggiore and DOC Venezia wine-growing areas, and since 1988 has been engaged in organic viticulture. The peculiarity of the company is the commitment to organic production,
strict observance of the ecological balance and biodiversity in their vineyards, protection and enhancement of the territory's resources. This production philosophy and lifestyle has made Le Carline synonymous with certified organic, vegan, sulfite-free and, more recently, resistant grape varieties (PIWI).
ORGANIC WINES and more... A few years ago, the winery started producing wines without the addition of sulfites or other oenological adjuvants. This is how Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Cabernet, Bianco, Merlot and Pinot Grigio were born.
30 years after the start of organic viticulture, the winery has taken another step forward,
in addition to organic viticulture, in 2017 the first grape harvest was obtained, from resistant varieties listed in the PIWI register, which, in addition to a high level of quality, also provide high environmental sustainability. In fact, these vines are mostly resistant to downy mildew and powdery mildew, two grape diseases
which winemakers are most afraid of, because of which agronomists have to resort to frequent chemical treatments of plants. PIWI grapes do not require as much attention, so there is little to no use of chemicals to control diseases.
Already in 2018, the RESILIENS line of wines made from PIWI grapes received the highest marks at the Piwi International Wine Awards:
white wine BIANCO RESILIENS:
– Piwi International Wine Awards Gold Medal (result repeated in 2019 and 2020)
– Silver at the international competition BIODIVINO
– Special award "5 Star Wines"
red wine ROSSO RESILIENS:
– Piwi International Wine Awards Gold Medal (Silver received again in 2019)

However, of particular interest is the red wine made from grapes grown on one of the islands of the Venetian lagoon - the island of St. Christina. This red dry wine AMMIANA IGT ROSSO DEL VENETO,
Bordeaux blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon varieties that have taken root well in Veneto. The vines growing on the island have escaped the influence of phylloxera, which makes it possible to taste and appreciate the wine made in the style of past eras.
Separately, it is worth mentioning CARLINE ROSSO IGT Veneto orientale, which is a Merlot blend,
Cabernet Sauvignon with the addition of Refosco dal peduncolo rosso, a traditional Veneto grape. The final touch allows you to make the already powerful "adult" wine even brighter and more fruity and berry. The wine is aged in large volume botti for two years, then at least six months - in barriques, ripening in bottles.
It has a huge potential for development, this wine will delight with its taste and aroma after many years. The high quality is confirmed by many awards received by this wine: in 1994, 1995, 1997, from 2001 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2011 - CARLINE ROSSO IGT Veneto orientale received the highest marks at prestigious competitions.
